An amazing vegan substitute for regular hotdogs are carrot hotdogs. Yep, you heard me right. There is such thing as carrot hotdogs. In my opinion they don’t really taste like the real ones, but it doesn’t mean that they don’t taste great! Marinade make these carrot super delicious and that is why you should try them!

  • medium sized carrots
  • hotdog bread
  • ketchup, mustard
  • fried onion, lettuce, tomatoes and cucumbers (optional)
  • marinade (ingredients below)

Ingredients for marinade:

  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1 teasp. oregano
  • 1/2 teasp. pepper
  • 1/2 teasp. salt
  • 1 teasp. all purpose seasoning
  • 2 teasp. paprika
  • 2 tablesp. maple syrup
  • 2 tablesp. mustard
  • 2 garlic cloves (minced)

Start by peeling carrots in the shape of sausages and boil them until soft. Let them cool down and meanwhile prepare the marinade by mixing together water, apple cider vinegar, soy sauce, mustard, maple syrup, 2 minced garlic cloves and all the spices – oregano, paprika, pepper, salt. Place carrots in the marinade overnight or for at least multiple hours. When that is done, fry carrots on the pan until nice and brown by pouring approximately 1-2 teaspoons of the marinade on them. Now when they are completely ready, continue with preparing hotdogs. Use some lettuce, fried onions, tomatoes, cucumber and toppings as ketchup and mustard, but basically it is up to your choice!
