Oreo cookies recipe. Vegan

Ever wonder how Oreos can be vegan? I recently did some experiments in my kitchen and came up with a cookie recipe which tastes pretty much the same like original Oreos. But the best part is that it doesn’t contain palm oil, there is no cross contact with dairy at all and they are vegan! 


Ingredients for cookies:

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup sugar (powder sugar would work better)
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 1/4 cup soy milk
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder


Ingredients for filling:

  • 1 cup powder sugar
  • 1/4 cup coconut oil (melted)
  • 2 tbs. soy milk (optional)
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract



Start by mixing together all dry ingredients, then add soy milk (or any other plant based milk) and olive oil. Mix it well until dough has even consistency and let it cool down in the fridge for couple of minutes. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F) and start shaping cookies. Bake them for 10-15 minutes. When they are done, let them completely cool down and meanwhile prepare the filling. Mix together powder sugar, coconut oil, soy milk and vanilla extract. It might take some time to get an even texture, because of the melted coconut oil, but you can cool it down in the fridge for couple of seconds while taking brake of stirring. Spread the filling between two cookies and your homemade vegan Oreos are ready.
